My Letter To President Obama and The Response I Received
(To be honest, due to size limitations I’m not sure of the exact wording of the letter I sent, but this is the source of it)
Hey President Obama! I Love You, I really do! “But anyone who had the audacity and felt the need to characterize as Thugs and Criminals (the frustrated offspring of A People who were forced to endure over four hundred of slavery: A People who continues to be Relentlessly Oppressed, Drained of Hope, Shackled with Poverty, Terrorized, Victimized, Brutalized, Demonized, Racially Profiled and Persistently Harassed; A People Disproportionately Convicted and Incarcerated, Used and Abused, Treated like Animals or Worst, A People too often Murdered by the hands of their supposed Protectors, A People Neglected and Rejected, Miseducated and Misled, A People Misunderstood and Mercilessly Preyed Upon by a System that has proven itself to be blatantly Discriminatory and Unjust towards us) is wrong and should apologize”.
Shame on you America: Shame on you.
We fought for you and died for you, yet still you treat us like dogs.
Our Rhythm and Culture made you Great, but instead of Love you gave us Hate.
With Blood, Sweat and Tears we built this Nation we built your Homes:
But with your Actions you tell us we’re not welcome this is not our Home.
Where is your Compassion America, where’s your Compassion;
How many Rivers of Blood must flow, how many Rivers of Tears will it take for you to begin embracing LOVE and rejecting HATE?
When will you stop demeaning yourself and us by referring to the Mothers and Fathers of Civilization as Minority?
When will you stop trivializing the sacredness of our Children by referring to them as Kids?
America, when are you going to stop deceiving us with your Phony Cannibalistic, Capitalistic system that’s destined to turn 99% of the population into Slaves?
When is this Heralded Selfishness and Greed going to end?
America, it is time to raise Your Consciousness.
How much more Pain and suffering will it take for you to bring to an end your reckless behavior, in order to reverse the probable destruction of our World?
America! It is time for you to stop using the name of God and Religion to infringe on the rights of people in their bedrooms.
It is time for the Oppression to stop, it is time for Freedom to Reign.
My heart bleeds for Humanity and especially for my black people; We have been suffering much longer and harder than everyone else.
It is time for the Suffering to stop, it is time for Healing.
IT IS TIME FOR LOVE!
America! It is time to stand for Peace by elevating Love to the highest Mountain and letting the world know the Divine Truth (that God has No Religion).
So let us all embrace Love before it’s too late!
Love & Blessings to you, your family and to everyone you touch.
The White House, Washington
Thank you for writing. Our Nation has made enormous progress in race relations over the past few decades. I’ve witnessed it in my own life. However, distrust still exists between too many police departments and communities of color. When any part of our American family doesn’t feel fairly treated, that’s a problem for all of us—it means we are not as strong a country as we can be.
Without commenting on incidents where there may still be an investigation, I recognize the fears and frustrations I hear about are deeply felt; they are rooted in realities that have existed for a long time. That’s why we need to uphold a system committed to the principle of equal justice for all.
Law enforcement officials have incredibly difficult jobs and put their lives at risk to protect us. And they are most effective when people have confidence in the system. That is why my Administration is working to enhance community policing, and also to strengthen trust and accountability between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve. We will take concrete steps to implement the commonsense, pragmatic recommendations my Task Force on 21st Century Policing put forward at the beginning of March—based on input from criminal justice experts, community leaders, law enforcement personnel, and civil liberties advocates. We are advancing the use of body-worn cameras and promoting proven community-policing initiatives, and we are reforming how the Federal Government equips state and local law enforcement, particularly with military-style equipment.
I am deeply committed to the promise of what our Nation can be, and my Administration will keep pushing for progress through ongoing initiatives, continued engagement with communities, and other targeted efforts. To learn more, visit www.WhiteHouse.gov/Community-Policing.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. We may not solve every problem or tear down every barrier of mistrust overnight, but by working together and addressing our challenges in the open space of democracy, we can make things better.
